नाही (nāhī) is the most common way to express negation in Marathi. It corresponds to “no” or “not” in English.

For negative commands, Marathi uses मत (mat) or नको (nako) instead of नाही.

नकारात्मक आज्ञांसाठी, मराठी नाही ऐवजी मत किंवा नको वापरते.

मत (mat) - Don’t! | मत - करू नका!

Used for prohibition, stronger negative command.
